There are 12 individual puzzles pieces in a variety of shapes and colors with corresponding shaped holes around the cube and there are openings on all four sides (you can actually store the pieces inside). Each side of the cube has different shape openings (star, cross, number, heart, arrow, etc.) and the cube opens easily. The pieces are open on the other so it's easy for your FIDs to pick the pieces up! Our greys use the pieces as foot toys (and at this price, that's a real bargain!) and we're recommend these for most mid to large size birds. This is a great interactive toy to spend some quality time with your FID and the round puzzle uses the same pieces so you can interchange them for even more fun!
